British Longboard Union (BLU) is delighted to announce that the National Trust will be its Environmental Partner for the British Longboard Championships 2012. The 2012 British Longboard Championships will contain four events, two of which will be on the National Trust beaches of Woolacoombe and Crantock
The National Trust works hard on behalf of all water sports enthusiasts to conserve and protect some ten per cent of the coastline around England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The aim of the partnership with BLU is to raise awareness of the invaluable work of the National Trust and further promote the hugely popular heritage sport of longboard surfing.

The competition encourages people to get outdoors and closer to nature and celebrates the fantastic coastline which is the surfer’s playground. It’s a hugely exciting partnership as British Longboarding is enjoying fantastic success at the moment and will showcase some of the breathtaking locations that we work hard to conserve.’

BLU founder, Minnow Green, said about the new partnership: ‘Our members are very excited about the possibilities presented by this new venture with the National Trust. Not only are the beaches the Trust has been able to offer us for this series the envy of surfers everywhere, but the Trust shares our belief, and that of most surfers, that the coast is to be enjoyed but also cared for by those who use it. We hope that other organisations will come on board to support us and help get this message across to as many people as possible.’

The British Longboard Championship Tour starts at Woolacombe on the weekend 21stApril and visits Crantock 30th June-1st July.
