hi people, i recently placed an add in Loot and i received this email message. the item i was selling was £300 and i had previously told the buyer i was prepared to accept £280
his name is Jeff Burrton and his email is artt2impression@gmail.com

Concerning the collection , i have made arrangement with the shipping agent that will be coming for the pickup at your location as soon as we seal these transaction.I'll offer you extra £25 to delete the ad from the site so as to confirm this is sold to me.
I will arrange a cheque for £1,950 in your name and you will deduct the cost of the Sony when it clears and the remaining balance will be send to the Shipper via money gram money transfer for immediate collection/shipping arrangment of the Sony because i have some other car parts,Musical equipment and furnitures to be shipped along with it from another location. If this is okay with you do get back to me immediately with your.... We've also had a couple v similar. We're a small B&B and had a couple of enquiries for believe it or not, a group of Russian novice Catholic priests. Same MO, quote a figure and they offer to send a vastly larger amount direct to your account, so you can pay for "local services"as they do not speak good English. Obviously they will pay you a percentage as a commission for this. Oh yes, they need it "Immediately" to make theier travel arrangements.

I have just received a cheque from a Jeff Blair for an item I was selling in Loot the amount was £325 but he has sent mea cheque for £1900 stating he wants me to deduct my money then send the rest to a shipper's his email address is Jeff Blair (true4tourist@gmail.com) I see that I a not the only one who has dealt with this person. I shall now rip up this cheque.This is his email he sent me -

Hey guys Just to let you know we've been alerted to a scammer who's contacting some of the people who post classified ads on the site.
He's calling himself 'Jeff Blair' and email is true4tourist@gmail.com.
Below is a copy of the example email he sent, so if you get one like this then just delete it.
Follow the general rule - if it sounds too good to be true it probably is! Genuine buyers won't want transactions in this way.
