We are looking for a Surf Instructor to run our surf camp located in Busua Beach, Ghana. Black Star Surf Camp is the first surf camp/school in Ghana and has been in operation for 4 years. In the spring of 2012 we will be restructuring our operations and will launch the Surf-n-Shine program, the first surf volunteer program in West Africa.
This is a once in a life time, very unique opportunity. A one year commitment is required. Compensation includes: a small base salary, accommodations, some meals, built in commission for surf lessons within surf volunteer program, percentage of revenue and tips from walk-in customers.
Duties:
The surf instructor will in essence be running their own surf school business with free access to prime location facilities, surf boards, and online marketing. The position will include: running the day-to-day operations of the surf school, giving surf lessons, coordinating with a local NGO to provide a quality surfing experience for the surf volunteer program, and teaching locals (as interns) to become competent surf instructors. Other duties will include helping to expand the Ghana Surfing Association (GSA), the ISA representative body in Ghana, and organizing an ISA sanctioned international surf contest.
Qualifications:
Surf Instructor certification is desired but not required for someone with teaching experience. A proven ability to work with others in a team setting and good communication skills with coworkers and customers. International experience and surf shop/surf school management experience both a plus.
If interested in this position please send your resume/CV to Peter Nardini at peter.blackstarsurf@gmail.com and we will contact you to set up an interview. |
